The key to making a successful shared system, I believe, is that individual artists must maintain their uniqueness and that they should not be “mashed” together with all the other members using the system.
In the Lucid Arts Project each artist has their own “portal” which can be accessed using their own domain name (not available on the free or basic plans—see plans). This means artists can have their website URL on their business card or promotional material and it will take visitors directly to the artist’s own website (which is built within the Lucid Arts Project).
The system is not about “The Lucid Arts Project” but is focused totally on the artists themselves. Individual portals are not heavily branded with the system’s imagery and logo (except on the free plan) but are clearly the homepage of the artist.
The added advantage is that artists gain additional exposure from the homepage of the project, www.lucidarts.org.nz. Here we feature the artists and display their bios and, in the near future, we will be developing a directory of artists and their art.
