How does it work?
March 29th, 2007
It is free to sign-up with the Lucid Arts Project and users can use the system for free for ever if they choose the free plan. This plan has a limit of five works but would be good for artists who are getting started but still need some exposure on the internet.
You can sign-up for any of the plans and you will get a 30-day free trial so you can really test the system to see if it works for you. After 30 days, simply pay the monthly fee for your chosen package or downgrade to the free one for ongoing free usage.
What can you do with the system?
Once you have registered (take a look at the plans and sign-up here) you can start uploading and managing your works straight away.
The foundation of the system is the works. These are basically the building blocks or the raw ingredients. You upload your works into a library and can categorise them. To display them on your site, you put them into one or more collections. You can create as many collections as you like and a work can be in more than one collection at a time.
If you have enabled the selling options in your profile, you can mark a work as being "for sale" and you can set the price and shipping options for each work. You can also set global shipping prices that apply to all works as well.
Works and collections can have detailed descriptions and works can have more than one image associated with them to allow for close-up detail shots or variations on a particular work (often the case with jewellery).
If you have one-offs, you can continue to display the works online even if sold by simply marking them as not for sale.
Buy Now with Paypal enabled
March 5th, 2007
Hi all,
If you login to Lucid Arts and edit your profile ( or if you sign-up for a new account here ) you will notice a Paypal Options section.
There are more detailed instructions on the Profile Edit ( or sign-up ) page, but basically to sell your work online you will need:
- Paypal Account (sign-up here)
- Default Shipping Prices to New Zealand, Australia and the Rest of the World.
Once Paypal has been enabled any work that has a price and is for sale will now display a Buy Now button on the work's detailed view page.
You can also set shipping prices for an individual work by editing that work.
If shipping prices are set on an individual work they will override the default prices you set in your profile.
This payment system will be evolving over time, and we would appreciate your feedback on how well it is working for you.
As always, if you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. support@lucidarts.org.nz
Registration is open! (BETA)
January 3rd, 2007
We have decided to open up the system to new members. This system is still in BETA stage but we welcome people to come and get involved, gives us your feedback, suggestions etc. There will be no charge during the BETA stage and we will give you plenty of warning before we start charging for the service. BETA testers will be given some months' free membership once we do start charging. Visit "the sign-up page":http://www.lucidarts.org.nz/signup and keep us posted; we would love to hear from you.
Sign-up
December 31st, 2006
We are welcoming new members but haven’t yet developed an automated registration system.
Please send us an email to support@lucidarts.org.nz if you would like to get to work promoting your work.
UPDATE: You can now register with The Lucid Arts Project through a simple sign-up process by visiting www.lucidarts.org.nz/signup
The Lucid Arts Project is currently free and you will not be charged anything for the time-being.
Pricing will be on a monthly basis when we get to that stage and setup the billing side of things. We hope to possibly keep a free package for people who need only a small about of space or a limited number of images. We are still working on the finer details on how to charge for this service.
Adding new works
December 5th, 2006
Once logged-in, artists can add new works by doing the following:
- Click on Works
- At the bottom of the window there are three links: “Show All Works”, “New Work”, and “New Collection”
- To add a new work, click “New Work”
Collections are groups of works. A work can appear in one or more collections.
Once you have added your works, you need to create a collection to display the works in. Do this by clicking “New Collection” on the Works page.
