Pots of Ponsonby Co-operative was created in 1981 as a retail outlet for a group of Auckland potters, enabling them to display their own work, and develop a relationship with “the buying public”.
The group has changed and developed in the years since, with a jeweler being introduced in recent years as well. Current members are: Shelly Cartmell (jeweler), Helen Adams, Simon and Julie Browne(Bali art and crafts), Leonie Clapham, Jan Cockell, Pher Scott, Carly Goffe (jeweler), Renton and Rosie Murray, Barbara Skelton, Margaret Sumich, Teresa Watson, Andrew and Jeannie Van Der Putten, Peter and Jeanette Shearer
The 12 or so members of the co-op manage the shop themselves on a daily roster basis. As well as their own work, there is a diverse range of metal, wood, glass, paua, flaxwork, photographs, and origami brooches from other selected artists, along with an interesting card selection.
The group organises fortnightly window displays, and 2 or 3 exhibitions a year, inviting other potters/artists both local and international to participate.
The shop is open 7 days a week. It is situated at the Three Lamps end of Ponsonby Road. 298 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby, Auckland.
