For Artists?

The Lucid Arts Project is a hosted web application that enables artists to create and manage their own websites. You can upload works, create online galleries (collections of works), and sell your works without the need for your own merchant bank account. You don't even need to have a credit card to accept payments from buyers anywhere in the world.

In addition to displaying and selling works online, you can also create pages with text and embedded images. This allows you to write articles, list galleries who display your work, share your thoughts and ideas or basically put any other content on your website that you like.

You can basically create your own complete website with no setup cost. Of course if you'd prefer some help, we can do the full setup for you and either give you control once we have setup your website or continue to manage the site for you.

We will be promoting the Lucid Arts Project widely which, in turn, promotes those who are members of the project. We aim to be able to promote the Lucid Arts Project in printed media and on the internet in places that artists could not usually afford so we can give you the exposure you need.

We know that your individuality is very important and have designed the system so you are not mingled in with other artists. You literally have your own website and it is branded with your own banner and imagery. As far as your visitors are concerned, you are not part of a wider system. We will, of course, promote you on our homepage but we really want this project to be about you and not about our system.

For art lovers around the world?

The Lucid Arts Project will become a directory of artists and their art. You will be able to look for works in different categories and genre and the directory will take you to the artists' individual sites.

From there, if they have chosen to sell their works online, you will be able to buy works or simply browse their collections and make enquiries about specific pieces.

Acknowledgements

The Lucid Arts Project is being created by a small but dedicated team of developers at Lucid Design. The sites is built using Ruby on Rails, a wonderfully dynamic web application framework for rapid web development.
